Well known for being one of England's finest historic walled cities, York attracts many tourists all year round and is one of Europe's most attractive business and residential locations. Boasting an enviable array of tourist attractions York can rightly claim to be a city not to be missed when visiting the North of England or indeed England itself.

Famous historic attractions include the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe, the Yorvik Viking Centre built on the site of an archaeological dig where visitors can travel back in time through the City’s streets when Vikings roamed the shores of Britain, the Castle Museum where highwayman Dick Turpin spent his last days, Clifford’s Tower, The York Dungeon and of course the National Railway Museum.

A walk along the historic walls will show many of the city’s beautiful archaeological features as will a picturesque boat trip along the River Ouse. For those visitors with a sense of adventure evening ‘ghost walks’ along the narrow cobbled streets can be enjoyed from many locations around the City and tell ghostly tales of the many and varied spirits living within Europe’s most haunted city walls.

For those who prefer to spend their evenings in a more conventional style York caters for all tastes from Theatre and Cinema to dining out in our many traditional hostelries or the cosmopolitan restaurants and wine bars of the City Centre.

The city has in the past been home to Rowntrees (now Nestle) and the equally famous Terry’s of York confectionery manufacturers. Nestle are still one of the biggest employers in the city as are Norwich Union and British Sugar. The city is also home to one of the North of England’s most sought after Universities.

York has all the leisure facilities, housing, culture, diversity and opportunity you'd expect from a modern, vibrant and popular university city. In fact there's so much going on it's easy to forget you're still only a bus ride from Leeds with even more exclusive shopping, only two hours from London, two and a half hours from Edinburgh and the beautiful East Coast of Yorkshire is less than an hours drive away as are the stunning North Yorkshire Moors.
